The Late Joseph Pursey.
Extract from Richmond River Herald 30/5/1926

The death of Mr Joseph Pursey of "Frampton Park", Bungawalbyn, removed one who had been intimately associated with the pioneering life of the State for a period extending back 70 years. .....Born in Somersetshire (England) on January 23rd, 1936.
When 20 years of age, the young immigrant arrived at Moreton Bay in thePhoebe Dunbar, in May 1856 after a voyage of 56 days.
He spent one year at Helidon (Qld), then some months at Ipswick, then to Sydney.
He went to the Bathurst gold fields and from there to New Zealand wherehe was at Massacre Bay for a while. New Zealand did not appeal to him and wending his way back to Sydney, and his next work was as an overseeron roadwork between the Moonbi Range and Armidale. After spending sometime on New England he was further employed as an overseer on roadworkbetween Tenterfield and Lawrence on the Clarence River.
Mr Pursey next selected land next the late Mr Stpehen Newby at Bungawalbyn and also opened a general store there.
Business life didi not appeal to him so disposing of the business and selection, he again selected on the opposite side of the river. This property he named "Frampton Park" and settled down to develop. He went in for dairying and eventually built up for himself a fine estate.
He was a Councillor of Woodbrun Shire for several terms.
He left a wife (whom he married in 1869), four daughters, Mesdames T.J.Morgan (Ballina), O.H. McPherson (Sawn Bay), Nurse Pursey, Miss J. Pursey and five sons, Messrs A.F., F.G., A.G., P.A., and F.L.Pursey, all inthis district. A daughter, Mrs W. Boorman, and a son Alfred, killed inthe Great War, predeceased their father, while one brother, Mr Theodore Percy, resides at Coraki.
Buried on Methodist portion of Coraki Cemetery.
