Narrative
Donald Keith Acey, 76, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 21, 2007, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, a result of a stroke in the cerebellum suffered two days before.
Keith was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Seattle to Lee and Evelyn Acey and was raised in the Ballard, Wash., area.
He met Virginia Smith at a high school dance and they were later married Oct. 20, 1950. They raised seven children.
Keith worked on a fishing boat in Alaska, leased a Mobile Oil gas station, was a route salesman for Garrett Freight Line, a retail gas and oil supervisor for Tenneco Oil Company, sold cars on Sundays for McMonigle Chevrolet-Cadillac, worked at Holsom Bakery, was an edgerman for Potlatch, and a forklift warehouser for Sylvestri's and later Odom Northwest Distributing. He retired at age 75 in March of 2006.
Work took him and his family from Seattle to Spokane and back; to Whittier, Calif.; Clarkston; Orlando, Fla.; Macon, Ga.; Bristol, R.I.; Fairburn, Ga.; and back to Clarkston in 1974.
His top priority was his family, followed closely by his love of hunting, fishing, golf, college sports, and beer with friends at the Moose Club from 4:10 to 5:10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Survivors include his wife, Ginny; Children, William and Marjorie Acey, Glenn Acey, Lynn and Ricky Hatcher, Jessie and Bill Schmidt, Dennis and Melody Acey, Kirk and Dawn Acey, Kethanne Dressen; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Margie Sovereign, Rex and Pat Acey, Ted Acey, Ronald and Maureen Abbott, Jeannie Abbott, Darril and Bella Abbott, and Terry Ann Paz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim Abbott.
He was a great husband, father, and friend. he was never allergic to work. He was a good man. God gave us a priceless inheritance to enjoy through this wonderful man: HIS FAMILY. However, we will be just a little envious that he will have the best seat in the house when his Colts beat the Bears in this year's Super Bowl.
The rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Wednesday and a memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday both at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11th and Chestnut Street, Clarkston. A reception will follow the Mass at the Parish Center.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to St. Vincent dePaul, 604 Second St., Clarkston, WA 99403.
